Cleaning the bathroom is a task. Remembering when it last happened, deciding when it needs doing and coordinating who will do it are several more tasks wearing an invisible coat.

## Look for the invisible coordinator

In a household, club or small business, somebody often remembers the recurring work. Interview that person as well as the person performing the task. Their needs may differ: one wants a quick completion button; the other wants confidence that nothing has been forgotten.

Do not assume the solution is more notifications. A stream of reminders can simply move the planning burden into a different inbox.

## Model the actual recurrence

Some tasks follow a calendar. Others depend on usage, weather, a previous completion or a shared judgment. A rigid daily checklist may be a poor fit for a job whose timing varies.

For a hypothetical equipment-maintenance app, “after twenty uses” could be more meaningful than “every Friday.” Start with the domain's natural trigger before selecting a scheduler library.

## Test coordination without blame

Shared-task products can accidentally become scoreboards for household arguments. Make responsibilities and changes understandable, but avoid assuming that every task can be compared fairly by completion count.

A prototype should answer practical questions: can people see what matters next, record completion with little effort and recover when a task is postponed?
