ZIP Inspector lets you open and examine ZIP archives without extracting them first. The app reads the archive structure directly and shows the full list of files along with detailed technical information. You can browse every entry in a ZIP file and view metadata such as compressed and uncompressed sizes, compression method, file offsets, timestamps, CRC values, and other header information. This makes it easy to inspect large archives, understand how they are structured, or investigate problems with damaged files. Unlike many archive tools, ZIP Inspector can often read broken or incomplete ZIP files. If a download was interrupted or a ZIP file is partially corrupted, the app can still scan the archive and list the files that are recoverable. In many cases it can extract files that are still intact even when the archive itself is not fully complete. You can extract individual files or decompress the entire archive to a folder of your choice. Missing directories are created automatically so the extracted files retain their original structure. The app is designed to work efficiently with very large archives by scanning ZIP files directly instead of loading everything into memory. A simple filter can hide common system files such as .DS_Store, making it easier to focus on the files you actually want to see. ZIP Inspector is useful for developers, power users, and anyone who wants a clear view of what’s inside a ZIP file—even when the archive isn’t perfect.
