YidShrift is the modern Yiddish keyboard for Android — built from the ground up by Yiddish writers, for Yiddish writers. Whether you write in YIVO orthography (the academic standard) or in heymish Chasidic spelling, YidShrift respects how you write. Pick one, the other, or both — the keyboard adapts. WHAT'S INSIDE • Bilingual Hebrew-script keyboard, properly right-to-left, optimized for Yiddish letter frequencies • Smart autocorrect that knows Yiddish — not a Hebrew keyboard with a thesaurus • Swipe entry (גליטשערײַ) — glide your finger across the letters and YidShrift figures out the word • Emoji suggestions in the candidate bar, triggered by Yiddish keywords • Word suggestions trained on a curated Yiddish corpus • Three orthography modes (YIVO, heymish, both) with fine-grained toggles for diacritics, geresh, maqaf, dagesh-rafe, vov-shuruk, and more • Swipe-Shpil — a typing game with a leaderboard, for sharpening your speed • QWERTY layer for typing English words inline without switching keyboards PRIVACY FIRST Your typed text stays on your device. YidShrift does not transmit what you type in other apps. Anonymous, opt-in diagnostics (crash and performance data, swipe trails, and at most a two-word correction context) are OFF by default — turn them on only if you want to help us improve accuracy. Everything is keyed to a random per-install ID, never to your name, email, or account, and is never sold or shared with third parties.
