Store description excerpt
Wear a piece of 1980s industrial Americana on your wrist. Y-79 Watthour Meter Watch Face is a faithful, hand-crafted recreation of the Sangamo / GE Type Y-79 watthour meter — the kind that lived on the side of houses for fifty years, ticking away in the rain and dust. Every detail is modelled the way it actually looked: weathered silver plate, aged ink labels, brass screws, the rolling number drums, and the matte-aluminum disk with its single red stripe. This is not a flat 2D mockup. The number wheels are real 3D cylinders — they roll, they squash, they catch the light, and they cascade into each other the way mechanical carry actually works. Watch the seconds drum sweep through ten faces; watch the minute drum kick over right after 9 → 0. Features: — Time on top: HH MM SS, displayed across six rolling digit drums. — Date below: DD MM YY, on six matching drums. — A rotating aluminum disk with a single red stripe. — Procedurally weathered chrome plate, stable across frames. — Always-on Display: dimmed digit drums, no plate, no chrome — readable, dark, battery-friendly. Built natively for Wear OS using Watch Face Format (WFF). No tracking, no ads, no analytics, no network access. The package contains image resources and declarative XML — that's it. For watch nerds, infrastructure nostalgics, ham radio operators, and anyone who's ever stopped to look at the meter on the side of someone's house and thought, that thing has a story.
