Store description excerpt

Wordstory turns the words you don't know yet into stories you actually want to read. Save a word — "serendipity," "redact," "look forward to" — and Wordstory writes a short piece of fiction around it. A story. A news brief. A friendly letter. A poem. Your vocabulary, woven together into one coherent paragraph you can read in under a minute. Context is how grown-ups learn languages, and Wordstory makes that context for you on demand. Offline-first dictionary, 770,000 entries built in. Type any English word — common, obscure, phrasal verb, idiom — and a Traditional Chinese translation appears instantly. No internet required. The bundled ECDICT covers everyday vocabulary, technical terms, "give up" / "look forward to" / "come down with" and hundreds of thousands more. The dictionary lives on your device so lookups stay snappy and work on the subway. Flashcard reveal that respects your pace. Each saved word starts hidden — only the word is shown. Tap to flip the card and see the meaning. Five seconds later it flips back automatically so you can self-test the next row. A small, satisfying motion that doesn't get in your way. Pronunciation, every word. Tap the speaker icon to hear any word read aloud by the iOS speech engine. English vocabulary uses an American voice; Chinese uses a Traditional Chinese voice. No accounts, no downloads. Stories with one tap of "Show Chinese." After Wordstory writes you a piece in English, a single button reveals the Chinese translation directly under each sentence — so you can check whether you actually understood. Vocab words are highlighted on both sides; tap any highlight to see its definition without leaving the page. Save the ones you love. The Saved tab keeps the stories you want to come back to. Tap the heart on any generation and it's yours to re-read later, organized by date. Bilingual through and through. English UI, 繁體中文 UI — switch in Settings or follow the system language. Stories generate naturally in either direction: learn English by reading a Chinese-to-English translation, or learn Chinese by reading the reverse. Vocabulary cards remember the direction they were added in. Privacy you can verify. Wordstory has no account, no sign-in, no analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers. Your word list is stored on your device in SwiftData. The only network call is the story generator, which sends the words you selected (and nothing else) to Google Gemini to write that story; nothing is stored on our servers because we don't operate any. Use cases - IELTS / TOEFL prep — see hard words in real sentences instead of flashcards alone - Reading practice for second-language learners - High-school and college vocabulary lists - Anyone who keeps a "words I want to remember" list - Heritage Chinese speakers picking up English nuance through context Wordstory is iPhone-only, free, and ad-free. There's no upgrade, no paywall, no IAP. Add a word. Read a story. Try the words tomorrow. — Made in Taipei.
