Store description excerpt
WITHSTAND is an anonymous peer-support app for adults 18 and older who are facing compulsive urges or a habit they want to leave behind. When an urge gets strong, the app looks for another member who is in the Watch at that moment. A five-minute "someone is here" session begins only if that person accepts. Anonymous sessions have no free-text chat, no voice and no video. What passes between two people in a session is a short set of server-defined signals. A peer sees your anonymous name, your light, the fixed signals during the session, the shared action you chose, and your connection state — nothing else. Community, the center tab, is an opt-in place to read and share short posts with peers walking the same road — under a display name you choose, text only, moderated, with report, mute and block on every post. There are no direct messages. Free, and staying free: - Ask an adult peer to be with you for five minutes when an urge is strong - Be there for someone else when you have the capacity - Open and rewrite your own Plan when an urge comes (it opens offline too) - Keep a private journal and read it back - See your walk: days held, urges survived, marks lit - Keep a separate walk for each thing you want to be free from - Open immediate-help information from inside the app - Block and report a peer, during a session and after it - Delete your account from inside the app - Read, support and share in Community, and choose which of its notifications reach you Plus (subscription) adds: - A Personal Circle. Invite up to five people you trust; when you ask for support, your ask reaches them too, and you can see by name who came. People you invite can respond without buying Plus. - The strength before and after an urge, drawn as a line over several weeks - The hours your records cluster in - The prepared hour: a quiet word shortly before the hour you set, reminding you of your own plan - A single page on Sunday morning, looking back over the week - Your own photo as the backdrop - Longer Community posts and titled articles Supporter (subscription) is a way to keep WITHSTAND running. While it is active you can use a supporter's mark, an alternate app icon, and a choice of night sky. WITHSTAND is not medical care, therapy, professional counseling, addiction treatment, or an emergency service. It does not promise relapse prevention or a treatment outcome, it does not monitor anyone for crisis, and it cannot call emergency services. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number. Asking for support, and being there for someone, will stay free. The app shows no advertising.
