Store description excerpt

A Pantanal wildlife guide that works with no signal at all. WildGuide brings 320+ species with ID tips, tracks and photos to your phone, so you know what you just saw. The Pantanal in Brazil is the largest tropical wetland on Earth and one of the best places in the world to see wild jaguars. On a boat, on a game drive or walking out from your lodge, WildGuide helps you spot, identify and understand every animal around you. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Browse 320+ species profiles with ID tips, tracks and photos • Identify animals fast by type, size, time of day or region • Log every sighting in your own sightings diary • See a live map of recent sightings around you • Works fully offline, no signal required • Learn how rare each species is and how it is protected WORKS WITHOUT INTERNET Mobile coverage out in the Pantanal is patchy and often gone completely. WildGuide keeps everything on your device: species profiles, photos, tracks and your own sightings. Nothing loads, nothing buffers, nothing disappears when the signal does. Log a sighting from the boat and it syncs later, once you are back online. A FEW OF THE 320+ SPECIES Jaguar, ocelot, giant otter, capybara, tapir, giant anteater, howler monkey, coati, caiman and anaconda, plus birds like the hyacinth macaw, toucan and jabiru. That is a dozen of them. The other 300 are in the app. WHERE IT HELPS Along the Transpantaneira road, out of Porto Jofre, in the Northern Pantanal in Mato Grosso and in the Southern Pantanal in Mato Grosso do Sul. WHEN TO GO The dry season, roughly June to November, pulls animals towards the water that is left and is the peak window for jaguar sightings along the rivers. In the wet season the wetlands flood and Brazil's bird life takes over. WildGuide covers both and tells you which species you are most likely to meet when. WHO IT IS FOR Safari travelers, birdwatchers and bird photographers, nature photographers, local guides, lodge guests, biology students and anyone curious about Brazil's wildlife. WHY IT EXISTS Built by wildlife lovers, for wildlife lovers. Every species profile is written to be read in the field, not in a lecture hall: what the animal looks like, how to tell it apart from lookalikes, when it is active, what its tracks look like and how threatened it is.
