Store description excerpt
Ever wondered "Is this true?" or "Is this AI?" What The Fact is a fact checker and AI detector for posts on X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads and Bluesky. The internet moves fast. Fact check any social post by sharing or pasting its link into the app. The app checks the claim and examines the public source behind it. The AI detector screens images and video for signs of AI generation and manipulation. ONE POST CAN TELL THREE DIFFERENT STORIES Online truth rarely fits neatly into "true" or "false." A real image can carry a false caption. An AI-generated image can illustrate a true claim. A questionable source can still say something accurate. That is why What The Fact answers three questions separately: 1. Does the claim hold up? The central factual claim is cross-checked against primary evidence, independent reporting and existing published fact-checks. 2. What does the source tell us? The account or outlet is assessed through observable public signals, including its history, posting behavior, and available credible information. 3. Is this AI or manipulated media? The AI image checker also works as an AI content detector for visual media, screening images and video for AI generation, editing, manipulation and misleading context. SEE WHY THE ANSWER HOLDS UP Every fact check includes the reasoning behind it, an AI detector result for the media, a confidence level for each reading, and links to the sources consulted. Sources are weighted by their reliability and independence. Primary evidence and established fact-checkers carry more weight than repeated versions of the same story. Sources controlled by a state and outlets with established records of disinformation are excluded from corroboration. Open the links. Follow the evidence. Your judgement stays yours. What The Fact gives it firmer ground. WHEN THE HONEST ANSWER IS "True, but..." Some facts are clear; others are still emerging. Sometimes the available evidence cannot support a firm answer. When reliable sources disagree, a story is still developing or the evidence runs out, What The Fact says so. “True, but…” does not mean false. It means the app checked, and cannot support a stronger conclusion yet. Automated analysis can be wrong. The app shows its uncertainty instead of hiding it behind a confident verdict. HOW IT WORKS 1. Share a supported social post from your feed, or paste its link into the app. 2. Fact-check the claim, the image or video, and the source in one result. 3. Read each result, see the reasoning and open the cited sources. Links from X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads and Bluesky are supported. KEEP WHAT YOU FIND • Return to any previous fact check through searchable history. • Share a report card, together with its citations. • Report a result that appears wrong. We read every report.
