Pocket Lingo translates text, speech, photos, and two-way conversations on your iPhone or iPad using compatible models that run on your device. SPEAK OR TYPE Type, paste, or dictate a phrase. Send selected text from another app through Share, hear the result aloud, save useful translations, and organize them by topic. CAMERA, PHOTOS, AND MENUS Point the camera at a sign or menu, take a photo, or import one from your library. Pocket Lingo recognizes visible text and translates it on your device. The menu reader translates visible dish names and flags words related to dietary preferences or allergens. It cannot detect hidden ingredients, sauces, or shared equipment, so always confirm allergies with staff. TWO-WAY CONVERSATIONS Take turns speaking. The enhanced on-device model transcribes, translates, and reads each turn in the other person’s language. CURATED TRAVEL PHRASES Browse hand-checked phrases for 14 supported travel languages across greetings, restaurants, directions, hotels, and help with emergencies and health. Listen with word-by-word highlighting, use number and price cards, and practice with short travel drills. SAVE AND RETURN Saved phrases and translation history are searchable. Export a readable Markdown copy or JSON, use supported Siri shortcuts, and keep selected daily phrases close with widgets and reminders. OFFLINE AFTER MODEL SETUP Curated phrases and read-aloud do not need a translation model. New text, voice, camera, photo, menu, and conversation translation require a compatible on-device model. Pocket Lingo uses Apple Intelligence when available or offers an optional enhanced-model download on supported devices. The active model determines available languages; the enhanced model can translate from your chosen language into up to 21 other languages. Download the model you need before traveling. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No Studio AM account, cloud translation, or tracking is required. Translation performed inside Pocket Lingo stays on your device. If you decline a result and choose the optional web-search handoff, that query opens in an external service. An optional Face ID app lock can protect access on your device. TRIAL AND SUBSCRIPTION Eligible new subscribers can start a 3-day free trial, then continue with a monthly or yearly subscription. After the trial, creating new translations and using app features requires an active subscription. YOUR SAVED DATA STAYS YOURS If a subscription ends, translations and phrases saved earlier remain readable, searchable, exportable, and deletable.
