शुक्रवार को लक्ष्मी देवी का व्रत रखा जाता है। इसे वैभवलक्ष्मी व्रत भी कहा जाता है। इस दिन स्त्री-पुरुष देवी लक्ष्मी की पूजा-अर्चना करते हुए श्वेत पुष्प, श्वेत चंदन से पूजा कर तथा चावल और खीर से भगवान को भोग लगाकर प्रसाद ग्रहण करते हैं। इस व्रत के दिन उपासक को एक समय भोजन करते हुए खीर अवश्य खानी चाहिए।. इस संसार में कोई भी ऐसा प्राणी नहीं होगा जो धन की इच्छा न रखता हो, अपने जीवन को धन सम्बन्धी कष्टों से बचने और अच्छा जीवन व्यतीत करने के लिए भक्त माँ लक्ष्मी जी की उपासना करते हैं. माँ लक्ष्मी को वैभव लक्ष्मी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. वैसे तो देवी लक्ष्मी जी की शुक्रवार के दिन आराधना की जाती है परन्तु कोई भी दिन और समय माँ की आराधना के लिए उपयुक्त माना गया है. देवी लक्ष्मी जी को हिन्दू त्यौहार दिवाली के दिन भी बड़े ही धूम धाम से पूजा जाता है. Fast of Goddess Laxmi is observed on Friday. These stories have given solace to millions of people from time immemorial. Mahalakshmi Vrata or Varalaksmi Vratha is a sacred day in Hinduism. The ceremony is performed by men or women on the Thursday before the full moon in the month of Margashirsha in the Hindu calendar. Those who cannot perform it on that day, can do it on any other Friday in that month. This is an important Vratha, meaning a vowed religious observance in Sanskrit.
