After having battled with social anxiety and depression for many years, I eventually stumbled upon spirituality. When I read my first spiritual book, I immediately felt "This is not for me." I couldn't do anything with it. So I put the book back into my bookshelf. Then, one fateful day, after suffering a panic attack, something drew me back to this book. I read it and immediately felt drawn to it. This time something in me said: "This is for me." I read it in one sitting. That marked the beginning of a journey through many more books and texts by spiritual teachers, modern and ancient. Many hours of meditation and exploring different meditation techniques. Going deeper and deeper into it. Eventually all came together and I began to see a common thread running through so many of these teachings: You are not your thoughts. I created Umind because I wanted to share the discoveries I made in a simple and accessible way. Not as another book telling you what to believe, but as an invitation to look within and discover these things for yourself. The app has 4 main features: - Now: A short pointer to bring your attention back to the present moment. Each pointer is designed to make you pause and investigate your own experience. - The Watcher: A space to write down and categorize your thoughts as they happen. Observe recurring patterns in your thinking and begin to recognize them for what they are. - The Path: Eight short teachings that summarize the ideas that shaped my journey, helping you explore thoughts, identity, presence, and awareness. - Presence Bells: Receive a small question at random intervals throughout the day, within a timeframe you choose, to gently bring your attention back to the present moment.
