TraceOff strips the hidden data out of your photos and videos before you send them anywhere. It runs entirely on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and your files never leave the device. WHAT IS ACTUALLY IN YOUR PHOTOS A picture straight off your camera roll can carry the exact coordinates where it was taken, the second you took it, your phone or camera's make, model and serial number, your name, and the software you edited it with. A picture that has been near an AI model can carry more: C2PA Content Credentials, IPTC "Made with AI" labels, China TC260 AIGC tags, generator names buried in EXIF, or a signature from the tool that made it. TraceOff reads all of it and shows you what is there, file by file, before it removes a byte. Inspecting is free and unlimited. TWO MODES AI provenance only. Removes C2PA Content Credentials, AI labels, TC260 tags, AI generator tags and AI text chunks. Your camera EXIF, colour profile and ordinary text fields are left alone. All metadata. Everything above, plus location, camera make and model, serial numbers, dates, comments, XMP, IPTC records, container tags and video timestamps. Only the display orientation and the colour profile survive, so the picture looks exactly as it did. NOTHING IS RE-ENCODED This is not an export. JPEG scans, PNG pixel streams, WebP frames, HEIC and AVIF images, and MP4/MOV audio and video are copied byte for byte; only the metadata containers are rewritten. Your file comes back at the same quality, minus what you asked to remove. After every clean, TraceOff re-reads the result and tells you if anything survived. WAYS IN AND OUT - The Photos and Files pickers - The share sheet, from any app that can hand over a picture - Paste, and drag and drop - A "Remove Metadata" Shortcuts action, for share-sheet shortcuts, Files folder actions and Siri Cleaned copies go back to Photos, out through the share sheet, or onto the clipboard. Your originals are never modified. HONEST ABOUT THE LIMITS Removing metadata does not remove invisible pixel watermarks such as SynthID, and it cannot erase anything a server has already recorded. A missing local signal means unknown, not clean, and TraceOff says so in the app rather than letting you assume otherwise. It also warns you when a file arrived by a route that may have stripped it in transit, so an empty result is never mistaken for a verdict on your original. Use TraceOff on content you own or are allowed to edit. Some platforms and jurisdictions require AI disclosures to remain in place.
