Store description excerpt

GRAVITY IS PULLING. THE TANK IS VISIBLE. SET HER DOWN. A physics landing game about the ABSENCE of input. Every correction costs fuel, the fuel gauge is right there in front of you, and nothing refills it mid-descent. The skill is spending as little as you can and still arriving slow enough, level enough and on the pad. FOUR THINGS HAVE TO BE TRUE AT ONCE Come in under the speed limit, under the drift limit, within about fifteen degrees of level, and actually over the pad. Miss on one and the craft is scrap — and the game names which one it was, every time: TOO FAST, TOO STEEP, SIDEWAYS, OFF PAD. A crash you cannot diagnose teaches nothing. THE CHEAP LINE IS THE FRIGHTENING ONE Falling fast and braking late uses less fuel than a long careful hover. That is not a trick of the tuning, it is the arithmetic, and it is the tension the whole game runs on: the efficient approach and the terrifying one are the same approach. A live velocity arrow tells you exactly how close you are to the speed you can no longer stop from, so the moment you have left it too late is visible rather than a surprise. PICK YOUR PAD Every site puts two pads down, three from the third site on. The safe one is wide and pays a small multiplier. Each of the others is smaller and pays more — the tightest of them several times the safe one. Land it clean, centred, level and with fuel still in the tank and every one of those is worth more points again. From the fifth site the richest pad LIFTS OFF the ridge and drifts, so it is a moving target with nothing underneath it: miss and you fall past it. IT GETS HEAVIER, TIGHTER AND DRIER • Gravity climbs with every landing you complete. • The pads get smaller. • The fuel you are granted at each new site gets less — though half of whatever you did not burn carries over, so an efficient pilot arrives with a fatter tank and compounds the advantage. • A storm builds through the run: a crosswind that grows the longer you are up there, so hovering to line up the perfect approach is never free. • From the fourth site, hazard spires flank the approach lanes. THE APPROACH ITSELF SCORES Hold a clean line — lined up over the pad, level, and inside the speed you could still stop from — and it builds a chain, tick by tick. Fly the whole descent properly and the multiplier survives the hand-off to the next site. Get sloppy and it decays. CONTROLS One thumb. Push the stick the way you want the engine to push: up is full throttle, up-and-left leans and burns. There is a BURN button to hold and a LEVEL button that snaps the craft flat for a small slug of fuel when the attitude has got away from you. The lean is analogue, which is the difference between "level enough" being a skill and being a coin flip. AN OFFLINE SPACE GAME, ACTUALLY OFFLINE • Fully offline. No account, no sign-in, no internet needed. It plays the same in airplane mode as it does on fibre. • No paywall. Nothing in the game is locked behind a purchase. • No energy meter, no repair
