Some UK toll crossings have no barrier and no booth. They use ANPR cameras to detect you as you drive through, and the clock starts. You usually have until midnight the next day to pay. Miss it, and the first you hear about it is a penalty notice in the post. There are six crossings across the UK that work this way, and TollMate keeps an eye on all six for you. TollMate requires a subscription: £1.49/month or £14.99/year. Auto-renews. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings. Whether you cross one every day on your commute or once a year on a trip you will barely remember taking, TollMate notices. It logs the crossing, adds it to your Pending list, and starts reminding you to pay while there is still time. THE SIX CROSSINGS Dartford Crossing Mersey Gateway Bridge Silver Jubilee Bridge Tyne Tunnels Humber Bridge Warburton Bridge REMINDERS THAT KEEP UP WITH YOU Pick how often you want nudging, every 1, 3 or 6 hours, and TollMate keeps reminding you right up to the deadline until you have paid. On deadline day it can step up automatically, with a final run of reminders through the evening at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 11:30pm and 11:45pm so the last stretch before midnight does not pass you by. That final push is on by default, and you can set it to respect your quiet hours whenever you like. Set your own quiet hours, too, so TollMate stays silent overnight or whenever suits you. ALREADY HAVE A PRE-PAY ACCOUNT? Many drivers have a pre-pay or account arrangement for one crossing but pay as they go on the others. TollMate works around it. In Settings, mark the crossings your account covers as Pre-pay, and TollMate stays quiet on those, instead sending a single reminder to check your balance is topped up, since a lapsed account can still lead to a penalty. For the crossings you pay as you go, you get the usual reminders. TollMate does not check your balance, so keep your account topped up as usual. YOUR BUSINESS STAYS YOURS Everything happens on your iPhone. Your location is never sent to us, because we never see it. No account to set up, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics, no one tracking you. You pay the toll operator directly, the same way you always would. A FEW HONEST WORDS TollMate is a reminder aid, not a payment service, and it is not connected to any toll operator. We always recommend paying as soon as you get a reminder. Paying your tolls on time remains your responsibility, and if you are ever unsure whether a payment is due, it is best to check with the operator. You will find more detail in the FAQ.
