「國際慈濟人醫會」（Tzu Chi International Medical Association, TIMA）目前在全球十一個國家，設有五十八個據點、超過七千名醫護專業志工，形成一個有組織、有系統的全球醫療服務網。於2000年召開首屆年會，並正式對外公布該組織之成立，增闢管道，讓有愛心、想回饋社會的醫護人員得以貢獻所長，也讓醫療網絡延伸到各個需要的地方。 證嚴上人期許由醫師、醫護人員、醫技人員、藥劑師、委員、慈誠等志工所組成的醫療服務團隊，能以尊重生命為出發點，做到全人、全方位的身、心、愛之照顧與關懷，共同為社區及醫療資源缺乏的地區服務。 慈濟人醫會永遠將病人的需求放在第一位，使身受痛苦、心靈恐懼的病患，得到身心靈的治療與膚慰。由此在國際間，帶動一股嶄新的醫療人文。
