Tauware Noa is an educational resource that shares an authentic Māori story of traditional life told in the unique Ngāti Konohi & Ngāti Porou dialect. Tauware Noa holds profound significance for Ngāti Konohi and Ngāti Porou as this is the story of their ancestor, Paikea, and his arrival to Aotearoa from Hawaiki. The App brings to life his journey to his final resting place in Whāngārā-mai-tawhiti, along the East Coast of Aotearoa. Interactivity has been used to create an immersive experience with an original, image-rich narrative. FEATURES 1. Synchronised narration in te reo Māori and English 2. Export pages, images and audio to colleagues, friends or social media Notes for teachers that are accessible inside the App include support on curriculum links, learning activities, vocabulary, a list of further resources available, and references. Tauware Noa was developed through the Ministry’s Te Aho Ngārahu fund. Te Aho Ngārahu was established in 2017 as an initiative to improve the access to quality te reo Māori localised curriculum resources to support ākonga, kaiako and Kāhui Ako learning in and through te reo Māori in both Māori medium and English medium settings.
