Store description excerpt
Tanken is a walking companion for Singapore. Each of its seven hand-crafted trails is a story where the stops build on each other. The first three stops of every trail are free. How a walk goes - Pick a trail and make your way to its first stop. - A path on the map leads you from one stop to the next, and points the way when the next one is out of sight. - Arrive, and the stop opens on its own: no check-in, no scanning, no QR codes. Eyes up, ears on Every stop's story is narrated, so you can stay present, eyes on the street instead of a screen. The seven trails Each trail is researched from authoritative sources, shaped stop by stop to draw you in, and walked end to end by our team on the ground before it goes live, so the story holds from the first stop to the last. Walk them in any order, at your own pace, pausing and resuming whenever you like. Makan Time Singapore prides itself on its hawker food, and Makan Time tells you the story on each plate: where a dish came from and the flavours you're tasting, so a good meal becomes a better one. Found one you love? Jot down your own notes, and collect a passport card and badge for each dish you try, filling up your own hawker table dish by dish. Your passport Every stop you reach and every dish you try earns a card, a nugget of its story to keep. They gather in your passport, to page through any time. Free first, then pay once The first three stops of every trail are free, and so are three select dishes in Makan Time, enough for a proper taste before you decide. When you want the rest, a single one-time purchase opens every remaining stop and dish. No subscription. Pay once, walk everything. From the two of us We're two Singaporeans who built Tanken the slow way: reading deep into the history, walking each route until the sequence feels right, and rewriting every stop until it earns its place. If you've ever stood somewhere in this city and wanted its story, these seven trails are the ones we most wanted to hand you.
