SurfaceScan turns a compatible ARCore Android phone or tablet into a local, bounded RGB-D surface-capture tool. Place the bright blue metric box over the surface you want to digitise. Adjust the box with direct gestures or precision controls. SurfaceScan accepts synchronized colour and measured ARCore Depth only inside the box’s six clipping planes. Sparse tracked points provide a limited fallback when usable depth is unavailable. Numbered 1 Width, 2 Height, and 3 Depth guides make the selected dimensions easier to match between the camera view and controls. Anchor-backed placement keeps that box attached to the accepted ARCore trackable. Live RGB and depth diagnostics show colour coverage and whether more light, a steadier view, or camera-image readiness is needed. Use LIVE while the blue box remains editable, or lock the box to start fixed protected capture. Capture points, capture rate, depth confidence, mesh resolution, mesh refresh, fusion stability, surface continuity, and preview smoothing can be adjusted while preserving the core workflow. Inspect the result, then save or share PLY, OBJ, STL, or USDZ. LOCAL-FIRST DATA HANDLING SurfaceScan does not provide an Orthopractis account, advertising, developer analytics, tracking, or automatic scan upload. Camera images, depth, pose, fusion, preview, and file creation are handled locally by the app. A result leaves SurfaceScan only when you deliberately choose Save or Share through Android’s system interfaces. This application runs on Google Play Services for AR, also called ARCore, which is provided by Google and governed by the Google Privacy Policy. The current app does not use ARCore Cloud Anchors or the ARCore Geospatial API. ANDROID CONNECTIVITY Android retains the complete local capture, preview, Save, Share, and export workflow. Live automatic camera streaming to Apple Vision Pro is not claimed for Android because the direct SurfaceScan Vision bridge uses Apple platform frameworks. To move an Android result, export PLY, OBJ, STL, or USDZ and deliberately select Save, Quick Share, or another compatible app or device for later import.
