Store description excerpt
Dive into a claustrophobic Cold War control room where the only thing between the crew and the crushing deep is YOU. Submarine Panic is a tense, fully procedural arcade survival game played entirely through instruments: a sonar scope, pressure gauges, valve wheels, a ballast lever, and a growing stack of increasingly damp incident reports. You never see your submarine from the outside. You feel it. The hull groans, pipes burst, and somewhere out in the dark a destroyer is listening for you. SOMETHING IS HUNTING YOU The boats hunting you are real contacts on your own scope. Find the ringed marker among the traffic, and the bezel shows you the bearing its depth charges are coming from. Hunters do not sail away. They take station, go quiet, fade back into the clutter, and then run in directly overhead. Sink one and the pressure genuinely eases, until a replacement takes station. KEEP HER ALIVE • Drag the ballast lever to dive and surface. Deep is harder to hear, but the hull strains and the leaks run faster. • Fight the floods. Tap a valve to seal a leak, or pump a swamped room down first once the water tops the valve. Lose a room entirely and you lose what it runs: the torpedo room takes your tubes, the control room your sonar, the engine room your ballast. Pump it back and it comes online again. • Read the ocean. PING lights up every contact at once and tells the whole sea where you are. Or listen quietly and let the sweep do the work. • Rig for SILENT RUN to shed their attention, at the cost of crawling reloads. The bilge pump is loud: run it and you are not silent any more. SIXTEEN FISH, AND NO MORE You sail with sixteen torpedoes and there is no resupply. Every shot is spent for good. A hunter on station combs away from your fish, but one committed to its attack run cannot dodge, so the shot that lands is the one you take while he is coming for you. Run dry and you run and hide for the rest of the patrol. DODGE THE DEEP When they have you, the depth charges start to fall. The ballast lever itself lights up on the side you need to move to. Read it, commit, and get clear before the fuse runs out. Late in a hunt they arrive in bracketing pairs that seal off one escape. Play it too safe for too long and the hunt closes in anyway. There is no hiding forever. POINTS FOR NERVE, NOT PATIENCE A pressure multiplier climbs while a hunter is overhead, charges are in the water, a room is lost, or the hull is straining, and every award rides it. Sinking a hunter mid-pass is worth several times sinking one in calm water. Sitting deep and quiet is not how you score. THREE WAYS TO DIVE • Endless Patrol. Survive as long as you can while the pressure ratchets up. • Daily Dive. The same ocean for every player, every day, with one condition on it: no active sonar, a full pack from the first minute, half a magazine, failing scrubbers. Seven rotate, and you are told which before you commit. Dive daily to build a streak. • Quota Patrol. A checklist you race. Fi
