StepCount reads your device's dedicated step-counting sensor instead of running GPS in the background. That's why it costs you battery you'd never notice rather than a third of your charge. Carry the phone; it does the rest. HARDWARE SENSOR, MINIMAL BATTERY No location services, no constant background wake-ups. Step data comes from the counter the operating system maintains — more accurate than motion-guessing, and dramatically cheaper on power. CALORIES AND DISTANCE Calories burned and distance walked, calculated from your height and weight. Prefer to set your own stride length? You can, and the numbers follow it. DAILY GOAL RING Set your target (10,000 by default) and watch the ring close through the day. Hitting it earns a small, un-annoying moment of celebration. 30-DAY HISTORY A month of daily totals as a clean bar chart, with your weekly average and best day marked. Trends are what actually change behavior, not any single day. MIDNIGHT ROLLOVER AND REBOOT PROTECTION The counter resets correctly at midnight, and a device restart doesn't erase the day's steps. Free pedometers routinely get both of these wrong; this one handles them. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS No account, no sign-in, no upload. Step history lives on your device and nowhere else. PERMISSIONS Physical activity permission is used only to read the step sensor. On older devices without a hardware step counter, the app tells you plainly rather than silently reporting zero.
