Steel Ball Brawl is a future contact sport played in two 90-second halves, built as a love letter to the 16-bit sports games that never bothered with fouls — and rebuilt from scratch for a phone held upright in one hand. SCORE ANY WAY THAT WORKS Put the ball in the goal. Light the five wall stars. Ride either loop to double your scoring. Bounce it off the domes, warp it through the gates, or electrify your throw off the bumpers and take an opponent out of the play. Injuring someone is worth as much as a goal, which tells you most of what you need to know about the rules. ONE MATCH A DAY, THE SAME ONE FOR EVERYONE The Daily Gauntlet is a single seeded match that every player on earth gets on the same day — same hall, same kickoff, same run of pickups. One attempt. Your score goes on a global daily board, and coming back on consecutive days builds a streak. LEVEL UP AND OPEN THE GAME Every match against the AI and every career fixture pays XP. Levels unlock five more team shapes to line up in — BOX, W-M, WALL, SPEAR and PYRAMID — and four more halls to play them in. Online play ignores all of it: multiplayer stays on equal terms, always. Ten achievements — from your first win to a hundred-point match — pay gem bounties and mirror to Game Center. FIVE HALLS THAT PLAY DIFFERENTLY, TEN WAYS TO PLAY THEM STEEL is a bare deck. ICE takes your grip away. INFERNO lights flame pools underfoot. SWAMP drags you down in mud. CASTLE drops portcullis gates across the pitch mid-play. Every one of them has a BRUTAL twin: mines armed on the deck, hazards on a faster clock, and less room to work in. PICK A TACTIC, NOT JUST A SHAPE OFFENCE, BALANCED or DEFENCE. Your tactic moves the whole squad — where they stand, how early they press, how tightly they mark, whether anyone breaks ahead of the ball — and sets their shape and skills to match. Override any of it if you would rather build the team yourself. BUILD A SQUAD THAT LASTS A SEASON Career is a league to climb and a cup to win. Sign star cyborgs from the transfer market, train attributes in the gym, bolt on armour, and patch up the ones who do not walk off under their own power. Injuries carry between fixtures. So do grudges. Rotate any man for the bench mid-match: the fresh legs sprint in from the sideline, and wounds travel with the man. PLAY SOMEONE ELSE Online 1v1 and 2v2 through Game Center, with private codes for playing a friend directly. Two players on one phone, thumbs either side. Two Bluetooth controllers on an iPad. The on-screen controls never stop working, so a controller can be picked up or put down mid-match. CARRIES BETWEEN YOUR DEVICES Career, levels and cosmetics sync through your own iCloud account, so a season started on a phone continues on an iPad.
