Store description excerpt
Step on the scale two mornings running and you might be a kilo heavier. You didn't gain a kilo of fat overnight. Nobody does. That's water and salt, and it's the biggest reason people give up on plans that were working. Steady shows you the part underneath. THE TREND, NOT THE NUMBER Steady reads your weigh-ins from Apple Health and fits a smoothed trend through them. Real fat loss moves about 0.1 kg a day. Daily noise moves fifteen to thirty times that. The trend follows the part that's actually you, so one heavy Monday stops looking like failure. It won't call a stall after four days. It won't tell you you're behind on day one. And it won't dress up water weight as progress. WHAT YOU SHOULD WEIGH TODAY Set a starting weight, a target and a date. Steady works out where you should be this morning and gives it as a range, because nobody lands on a decimal. Anywhere inside that range is on track. The chart shades it so you can see where you sit. The plan is drawn from the day you start, so there's something to look at from day one. WHAT'S ACTUALLY WORKING Steady lines your weight up against your steps, exercise, active energy, sleep and resting heart rate. It measures each one three ways: how much, how often, and how steadily. A 30,000-step Saturday and walking 7,000 every day are not the same week. When it can't find a pattern it says so. An app that finds something every week isn't looking honestly. WHEN YOU'RE DONE Switch to maintenance whenever you decide you've finished, at your target or wherever you've had enough. Steady widens the range and starts watching for drift instead of loss. The months after a diet last longer than the diet did. ON YOUR WRIST AND HOME SCREEN Widgets in three sizes, plus a Watch app and complication showing your trend and whether you're on track. MUSCLE, OR FAT? Set a target above your current weight and a Build tab appears. Everyone putting on weight looks successful on a scale, including someone putting on nothing but fat. If your scale reports body fat, Steady splits what arrived into lean tissue and fat, and grades the split. It watches the speed too. Muscle goes on at roughly 1 to 1.5% of bodyweight a month at the very best. Anything faster than that is fat. It also catches recomposition: lean up, fat down, the scale barely moving. Most weight apps report that as nothing happening. A TAPE MEASURE Nine sites, ranked by how fast each one grows relative to its own size. A centimetre on a 35 cm arm and a centimetre on a 105 cm chest are not the same news. That gives you something the scale can't. If your waist starts growing as fast as the muscles you train, the surplus is bigger than your training can use, and you'll see it here long before you see it in the mirror. CUTS AND BUILDS AS BLOCKS Turn phases on and your training year becomes what it really is: a cut, a hold, a build. Each block gets its own result and its own lean-fat split. "That cut took off 7.6 kg, 5.9 of it fat." "The build af
