Steadwell is a four-week balance practice built for people in their sixties, seventies and eighties, and paced for them rather than for a gym. It starts by measuring where you are. Three simple checks: how many times you can rise from a chair in thirty seconds, how long you can stand on one leg, and how far you can reach forward while seated. No score. No risk percentage. No list of conditions you supposedly have. Just your own numbers, written down. Then you practise. Six gentle movements a day, about six minutes, drawn from traditional tai chi and qigong: Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi, the Eight Pieces of Brocade, the Five Animal Frolics and the Muscle-Tendon Classic. Sixty-nine movements across four weeks, so your days do not repeat. Each one demonstrates the movement, holds the position long enough to copy, and shows how long to keep going. Every movement comes in three versions: standing, holding the back of a chair, or seated throughout. Your answers choose which one, and you can change your mind on any day. Two weeks in, you measure again. That is the whole point of the app: your own number, and what changed.
