Store description excerpt

StairRise Flight Lab is a live stair-stringer layout workbench for remodelers, finish carpenters, trade-school students, and serious DIYers. Enter a tape-measured floor-to-floor height and get a defensible straight, L, or U residential flight layout in minutes—without spreadsheets or guesswork. CORE WORKFLOW Start on the total-rise pad: type floor-to-floor height in inches or millimeters, lock a preferred tread depth and maximum unit rise, and instantly recompute riser count, unit rise, unit run, total run, and walking-line length on a scaled elevation. LIVE STRINGER BENCH Drag comfort-band controls for unit rise versus unit run while tread rectangles, nosing overhang, and the full stringer outline rebuild in real time. Zoom dimension callouts so every mark stays readable on site or at the saw station. LANDINGS AND WINDERS Drop an intermediate landing or switch to L/U winder geometry. The bench splits the flight, explains landing-depth rules in plain language, and redraws each run with its own mark set. EDUCATIONAL CODE-STYLE CHECKS A dedicated panel flags max riser, min tread, consecutive riser variance, nosing range, and headroom targets with clear fix suggestions. Checks are IRC-style teaching aids with an explicit not-legal-advice disclaimer—not jurisdiction certification. SECTION AND WELL OPENING Switch to a cutaway section with a movable head-clearance glyph to verify headroom and size the stairwell opening against the current total run and landing. CUT-TICKET EXPORT Generate birdsmouth seat and heel marks, stock length, tread and riser board counts, and skirt hints. Preview, share with the system Share Sheet, or save a one-page PDF for the saw station. PRACTICE AND LEARNING Work seeded porch, basement, split-level, and attic-access scenarios that present a flawed layout, ask you to correct illegal dimensions, then reveal a model solution with explanations. An anatomy atlas and short quizzes reinforce stringer, tread, riser, nosing, skirt, newel, handrail, and baluster vocabulary before you cut. MATERIAL AND ON-SITE GLANCE From the active design, estimate 2x12 or metric stringer count and length, tread stock, riser stock, and optional skirt boards with a simple waste factor. Medium and small widgets show unit rise, unit run, riser count, and total run for quick reference without diving deep into the project. Built for people who lay out real residential stairs: live geometry, plain-language safety teaching, practice flights, and exportable cut marks in one focused workbench.
