Speak For You turns your iPhone into an interpreter you hold in your hand. Hold the button, say what you mean, let go. The other person hears it in their language, out loud, in a natural voice. Hand them the phone and they hold the other button to reply. WHAT IT DOES - Push-to-talk translation between two people, in both directions - Speaks the translation out loud, and shows both sides on screen - Live captions: put the phone down on the table and just talk. An open microphone follows both sides and puts every finished sentence on screen in both languages, so neither of you has to hold anything - Start from a photo of a menu, a sign or a label, then tap one thing to point at it. It is the answer to "this one" when you share no words - Nothing that has been said disappears; tap any line to hear it again - 13 languages: Chinese, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Indonesian and Vietnamese, in both the conversation and the app's own interface TWO WAYS TO RUN IT - On device (iOS 26): translation and speech happen entirely on your iPhone. No account, no network, nothing leaves the phone. Download the language models once from Settings and it works on a plane, on a mountain, or anywhere the signal does not reach. - Cloud: faster, better with long or unusual sentences, and the only mode that can run live captions or read a photo. This mode stays off until you enter an API key you obtained yourself, and Settings lets you point it at any endpoint you choose. The app has no subscription and no in-app purchases, so you pay your provider directly for what you use, and only if you choose to use it. Live captions keep a running total of the session's cost on screen while they run. YOUR KEY, YOUR DATA If you add an API key, it is stored in the iPhone Keychain, locked to this device and left out of backups. In on-device mode nothing is sent anywhere at all. There are no ads, no analytics, and no account to create. Free, with no in-app purchases.
