Store description excerpt

Soar is an electronic flight bag built for the part of the sky nobody else maps well: the first thousand feet. Powerlines, towers, guy wires, cranes and terrain are what pilots hit down low, and they are exactly what a standard EFB draws worst. Soar puts them on the map with everything else you need — charts, weather, airspace, traffic and a logbook — so you are not switching apps at two hundred feet. --- HAZARD AWARENESS --- - Over eight million obstacles and wire spans, including powerline routes reconstructed from utility data rather than point obstacles alone - Alerts that follow your speed — omnidirectional in a hover, narrowing to a forward arc as you accelerate, so a tower behind you stays quiet - Spoken callouts with distance and bearing, eyes stayed outside - Terrain and obstacle scanning along your planned route before you fly it - After a warning, the spans that triggered it are highlighted on the map — and wires abeam of you stay drawn even when the alert itself is directional, so you can see what you are turning into --- THE REST OF THE BAG --- - Moving map with terrain, airspace and TFRs, updated continuously - Airport and heliport detail: frequencies, runways and surfaces, FAA Chart Supplement pages, and for heliports the owner and manager phone numbers so you can ask permission before you land - Weather: METAR, TAF, winds, radar, and a forecast at any airport you tap - Flight planning and navigation with leg distances, ETE, fuel and a terrain profile - ADS-B traffic, including portable receivers over WiFi (Sentry, Stratus, Stratux and similar) - Automatic flight recording, replay, and a logbook that fills itself in - Live Activity — altitude, groundspeed and heading on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island - Offline: hazard, terrain and chart data cached on the device so alerting survives no signal - Ask in plain language: plan a flight, look up a tail number, check a field's weather - A community of working pilots: field reports, job postings and a marketplace --- WHY IT IS FREE --- Soar has no subscription, no paid tier and nothing locked. It is funded by selling flight data to aviation insurance partners. That data is tied to your account, not anonymous — which is the point: a pilot with a clean, well-flown record has something to show an underwriter. You are told this in full the first time you open the app, and you can switch the sharing off at any time in Settings without losing a single feature. --- SAFETY --- Soar is a supplemental situational awareness tool. It is NOT a certified navigation system, is NOT approved for instrument flight, and does NOT replace an official pre-flight briefing, aeronautical charts, NOTAMs or ATC. Obstacle and terrain data may be incomplete or out of date — absence of a hazard on the map is not evidence that there is no hazard. The pilot in command remains solely responsible for the safe conduct of the flight.
