Store description excerpt

Skadis Pitch turns any sound into a line you can read. Point it at your voice, your guitar, a horn, or a recording, and the pitch is drawn live on a piano roll: vertical is pitch, horizontal is time. Notes are where you expect them - a keyboard down the left, a grid of semitones across the canvas, a ruler along the top. WHAT IT SHOWS - A smooth pitch curve, not a jittery scatter. The line is averaged into pixel-wide buckets and drawn with monotone interpolation, so it never invents wobble that was not in the sound. - Note, cents, and frequency, updated as you go. - A loudness waveform under the canvas, on the same time axis. - The exact frequency in hertz, so you can chase a tuning by number. SCALES AND MODES Choose a key and a scale - major, natural, harmonic and melodic minor, all five remaining church modes, both pentatonics, blues, whole tone. Notes outside the scale dim on the keyboard, and any part of your line that strays outside it turns red. Useful for practising a mode, checking intonation against a key, or just seeing how far your improvisation wandered. RECORD, REVIEW, REPLAY Recording keeps going as long as you want. Press stop and the canvas freezes: drag it, scrub the ruler, or scroll back through the take. Press play and the audio comes back with the playhead sweeping across the notes you sang, so you can hear and see the same moment at once. BUILT FOR ACCURACY Pitch is found with the McLeod method on a normalised square-difference function, computed through the accelerate framework. A tracker on top resolves the octave ambiguity that trips up naive detectors: it follows continuity through the gaps that consonants and breaths leave behind, and only accepts a jump once the new pitch has held. On clean tones the reading lands within a twentieth of a cent. MADE FOR MUSICIANS Adjustable note range, adjustable time window, light and dark themes, trackpad gestures on Mac, and a tuning reference from 415 to 466 Hz for anyone working outside A440. Everything happens on your device. Audio never leaves it. Skadis Pitch is made by Skadis.
