Many families from Zhalawad have settled in Surat. With the spirit of helping each other and being mutually supportive, on Saturday, 24/07/1982, Shri Vadibhai Shah, Shri Kantilal Ajmera, Advocate Shri Ujamshibhai Shah, Shri Natubhai Dhruv, Shri Vinaybhai Vora, Dr. Mugatlal Bawisi, Shri Lakshmikant Shah, Shri Rasikbhai Shah, Shri Sharadbhai Shah, Shri Manharbhai Shah, Shri Dharamchandbhai Khatdiya, Shri Pankajbhai Shah, Shri Navinbhai Parekh, and others established Shri Zhalawad Jain Mitra Mandal, Surat, which included all three sects of Zhalawadi Jains residing in Surat. Shri Vadibhai Shah had the privilege of becoming the first president. At Shri Zhalawad Jain Mitra Mandal, Surat, activities such as honoring ascetics, felicitating students, recognizing those who achieved special accomplishments, organizing pilgrimages, and hosting various competitions were carried out. Many known and unknown members contributed significantly to the progress and growth of the Mandal. With the donation received initially from Shri Manishbhai Gandhi, we were able to distribute notebooks to students for three consecutive years. Shri Hemendrabhai Shah has sponsored Swami Vatsalya continuously for five years. Thus, our community has been able to undertake many new activities and continues to strive toward initiating many more social endeavors in the future.
