SheetStand is the native PDF sheet-music library for people who keep scores on disk and want one place to catalog, search, play, and practice them — built iPad-first, and on iPhone and Mac. Copy a folder of PDFs into SheetStand’s own iCloud Drive library. Originals stay where they are. Read titles and credits from the page, confirm what looks right, then rename. Then open a score full-screen at the piano — now with a metronome, backing tracks, and MIDI keyboard support built in. No SheetStand account required. NEW IN 2.0 — PRACTICE AT THE STAND • Metronome scheduled on the audio clock, with time signature and count-in bars • Per-piece tempo, meter, and count-in saved with the score and synced • Backing tracks: attach one to a piece, or open one ad hoc • MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF, and Standard MIDI (.mid) files all work as backing • Practice speed 0.5x–1.5x — Keep pitch, or tape-style pitch shift • Play a USB-C or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard and hear it in the app • Sustain pedal, including half-damper, and all-notes-off honored • Optional software piano: bundled grand, or import your own SF2 SoundFont • Compact transport above the page controls; Hide it to fill the screen WHY PEOPLE USE IT • One app instead of unnamed PDFs plus a separate reader • iPad as the music stand — also iPhone and Mac from the same library • On-device reading first: PDF metadata, text, Vision OCR, heuristics • Needs Review before anything is renamed — never silent • Hide, Keep Downloaded, Delete Everywhere, and Recently Deleted FOUR MODES, ONE APP • Home — recently played, recently added, gathering dust, needs attention. Fixed widgets, not a dashboard builder • Library — search, filter, sort by title, composer, or date added, open the viewer • Import — Add Folder, Read Scores, Needs Review / Accepted / Duplicates • Settings — naming, memorized rules, performance audio, storage, Help YOUR LIBRARY (BOOKS-STYLE) You do not pick the library location. When iCloud is on, scores live in SheetStand’s iCloud Drive folder. Add Folder copies PDFs in; originals stay. If iCloud is off, the library stays on this device and a banner explains that. Two devices on the same Apple ID pick up confirmed metadata once iCloud has synced — your Drive folder, not a SheetStand server. Hide drops a row from Library, Home, and search without deleting the file. Delete Everywhere moves the library copy to Recently Deleted for 30 days; Undo works immediately. READ AND REVIEW Import does not extract by itself. After a copy-in, use Read Selected or Read Scores & Review. Extraction is cheapest-first: PDF metadata → PDFKit text → Vision OCR → heuristics. Every field keeps a source and confidence badge. Confirming a piece is what allows a rename. RENAME AND EXPORT Only confirmed pieces may be renamed. Dry-run preview first; original filenames stay in the catalog. Collisions get a variant suffix instead of overwriting. Export Copies writes named PDFs to a folder you pick — copy, never move.
