Shalom Table helps you prepare for, host, and share Shabbat and Jewish holiday meals — whether it is your first time or your thousandth. It answers four questions the moment you open it: what is coming next, exactly when it begins and ends where you are, what to prepare, and what your family can read and talk about at the table. TIMES YOU CAN CHECK Candle lighting, sunset, and Havdalah for your location, with the reasoning shown. Not just "6:58 PM", but "6:58 PM — Phoenix, Arizona — 18 minutes before sunset — general Diaspora setting". Every time names where it applies and how it was worked out. Customs are not universal, so they are settings rather than assumptions. Choose the Israel or Diaspora calendar, your candle-lighting practice, and how Havdalah is determined — or say you are not sure and get careful general defaults with a nudge to confirm with your own community. Where a time genuinely cannot be calculated — far-northern locations in midsummer, for instance — the app says so plainly and points you to local guidance. It will never show you an invented time. A HOST'S PLAN A preparation timeline that counts backward from candle lighting, so you know when to finish cooking and when to set the table. An editable checklist that adds holiday-specific items on its own. Roles you can assign around the table and reuse each week. READY BEFORE IT BEGINS Many households prefer not to use a phone once Shabbat starts. So the printable packet is a core feature, not an afterthought: times, dates, the order of the evening, the blessings, the reading, and discussion questions — on paper, before you need them. Everything also works offline. A DUAL CALENDAR Hebrew and Gregorian together, with holidays, Torah portions, fasts, and Rosh Chodesh. It shows clearly that a Jewish day begins the evening before, so a holiday never appears to start at midnight. FOR THE WHOLE TABLE The weekly Torah portion with a short passage and discussion material written for who is actually there — young children, older children, teenagers, adults, or a mixed family where the conversation moves through all of them in turn. All 53 weekly portions have material for every one of them, at five lengths from a single question to a full source sheet. Where a passage or a piece of material has not been written and reviewed yet, the app says so plainly rather than filling the gap with generated text. BLESSINGS Hebrew with and without vowel marks, with transliteration you can read aloud, alongside English, with the instructions for each step. Every text shows its source and license. WIDGETS AND SIRI Candle lighting and the Hebrew date at a glance on your Home and Lock Screen. Ask Siri when Shabbat ends. PRIVACY No account. No sign-in. No advertising. No data sold. Nothing is collected about children — you pick an age range for content, never a name or a birthday. Your location is used to work out times and is not kept as a history, and you can delete all location data in one tap.
