Store description excerpt

Semaya shows prayer times, the direction of prayer and the religious calendar — for Sunnis, Shias and Alevis. THREE PATHS, ONE APP You choose your path when you first open the app. From then on Semaya shows exactly what belongs to it — and nothing that does not. • Sunni: prayer times by Diyanet and other methods, Ramadan with imsak and iftar, both Eids and the holy nights. • Shia: Jafari calculation with a later maghrib, plus Ashura, Arbaeen and Ghadir Khumm. • Alevi: the twelve days of Muharram, Ashura, Hızır, Hıdırellez and Nevruz. No prayer times, no qibla — because neither belongs to that practice. The Alevi path is not carried along on the side here. It has its own calendar and its own home screen. That is the reason Semaya was built at all. TIMES THAT MATCH YOUR COMMUNITY Times are interpretation, not only astronomy. If Semaya differs from the notice at your mosque, you shift each prayer by minutes on its own — set once, kept for good. The calculation method is free to choose; the one your path uses is marked as the recommendation. In northern Europe the summer night never fully darkens. Semaya then says plainly that the dawn and night prayers cannot be calculated exactly, and names the approximation it uses — rather than showing a number that feigns precision. HOLIDAYS THAT ARE EXPLAINED Every occasion carries its date, a countdown and two or three sentences on what it is about. If nobody ever explained what the Night of Bara'ah is, or why Ashura falls on a different day for Alevis than for Sunnis, it is written here. The dates come from published calendars and are maintained by hand rather than computed — the start of a month is a matter of interpretation, not merely arithmetic. THE DIRECTION OF PRAYER A compass needle towards the Kaaba, with the bearing in degrees and a calibration notice. Semaya uses true geographic north, not magnetic north — in central Europe the two differ by several degrees. REMINDERS Holidays the evening before and on the day itself. Prayer times if you want them, each one switchable. Everything is scheduled on the device. There is no server that knows when you pray. YOUR DATA STAYS WITH YOU No account. No sign-up. No server. Path, location and every setting live on your phone alone. Times and the direction of prayer are computed on the device, without an internet connection. Only the name of your location is looked up by the operating system — which sends the coordinates to Apple. That is the one place where Semaya goes online at all. Under European data protection law, religious belief is a special category of personal data. The only safe way to handle it is not to collect it in the first place. ELEVEN LANGUAGES German, Turkish, English, French, Arabic, Persian and Dari, Urdu, Pashto, Kurmanji, Sorani and Zazaki. The language follows your phone's setting and can be changed at any time. The Arabic-script versions run right to left. FREE AND WITHOUT ADS No advertising, no subscriptions, no lo
