SelectSpeak is designed and tested for English on-screen text and English text-to-speech voices. Voice availability depends on the English TTS voices installed on your device. Tap the floating tab and SelectSpeak takes a screenshot, runs on-device OCR, and highlights every line of text it found. Trace your finger across the lines you want, lift, and listen. HOW IT WORKS 1. Enable the SelectSpeak accessibility service once. 2. A subtle floating tab appears at the edge of every screen. 3. Tap the tab to capture. Trace the lines you want. Lift to play. 4. Drag the tab anywhere on screen, dock it to either edge, or drop it into the bin to pause. 100% LOCAL — NOTHING LEAVES YOUR DEVICE SelectSpeak does not request the internet permission. It physically cannot transmit anything, even if it wanted to. • No analytics, no ads, no tracking, no accounts • Screen capture only happens after you explicitly tap the tab — never in the background • Text recognition uses Google ML Kit on-device — your screen content never reaches a server • Speech is synthesised by your phone's existing text-to-speech engine • Crash logs are written locally and only leave your device when you tap "Share crash log" yourself GREAT FOR • Long articles, threads, and emails you'd rather hear than read • Captions, fine print, error messages, and dense documents • Reading while cooking, walking, exercising, or resting your eyes • Reduced eye strain after a long screen day • Anyone with low vision, dyslexia, ESL learners, or reading fatigue MAKE IT YOURS • Six theme palettes — slate, ember, forest, ocean, plus dark and light defaults • Dark, Light, or follow-system mode • Adjustable floating-tab size and opacity so it sits exactly how you want • Optional underglow accent • The tab tucks into either edge as a thin drawer when you don't need it, expands instantly when you do PERMISSIONS • Accessibility Service — required so the floating tab can render over other apps and capture the screen when you tap it. The service does NOT read your screen content in the background and does NOT log or transmit anything. That's the only permission SelectSpeak asks for. No internet, no microphone, no contacts, no location, no storage. LITE EDITION SelectSpeak Lite is the free edition. A premium edition with additional voice packs is planned for a future release.
