You don't have to try to fall asleep. Sand Pendulum is an app for watching — a pendulum bob carving slow patterns into a field of sand. Like a real sand pendulum, its swing and precession draw roses, spirals and stars, one line at a time. There are three ways to spend the night. Watch the sand. Watch a line of light close. Return one star to the sky. None of them hurry you. ■ Just watch — the sand pendulum Nothing to operate. The bob swings quietly across a full screen of sand. About six minutes until a pattern is finished. By then your eyelids may already be heavy. ■ When it's done, from directly above The camera rises slowly and shows you the whole pattern. Move on when you feel like it — or fall asleep right there. ■ A second night: Light Mandalas Three lines of light draw geometry in the dark. 108 of them. Each line leaves, travels, and always returns to where it started. No two close the same way. ■ A third night: Star Cradle Launch a star from a small cradle and settle it where it belongs in the sky. One rule: it has to fall in from above. Orion, Cygnus, Scorpius — 88 constellations, lit one star at a time. Miss, and nothing is lost. Stop halfway if sleep comes first. ■ 344 patterns to collect 100 sand patterns, 12 orbiting ones, 36 seasonal, 108 light mandalas, 88 constellations. Only the ones you reach stay in your book, with their names. Save any finished pattern as an image, or as a video of it being carved. ■ Make your own Tune the pendulum yourself and draw a pattern that exists nowhere else. Name it, and keep it. ■ Sound that dissolves into the night Three low music boxes for sleep, waves, night rain, a light breeze, soft noise — layer them freely. All synthesised on your device, with no loop seams. The faint ASMR of the bob in sand follows its speed.
