Store description excerpt

Southern san San is a language of the Mande family. It is spoken by the Samo people in Burkina Faso, in the provinces of Sourou and Nayala. The sanphone population is estimated at over 200,000 speakers. Linguistic surveys made it possible to determine three main dialects, distributed between the northern and southern regions (mà kaa, mà tiaa and mà yaa). The purpose of this lexicon, based on the san spoken in the southern region (mà kaa), is first and foremost to help sanphones to write their mother tongue well. We hope that it will be used by literacy educators as a reference lexicon. This lexicon contains approximately 2220 words. over 1000 images and over 2200 sound files to listen to words or expressions. This is a preliminary edition and we invite all readers who will use it to send us their suggestions for correcting and improving it.
