Fajr (Dawn Prayer): The time for Fajr begins at True Dawn (al-Fajr al-Sadiq). This is the precise astronomical moment when a faint, horizontal band of white light first appears and begins to spread visibly across the eastern horizon. The time frame ends immediately at sunrise, exactly when the upper edge of the sun's disk breaches the horizon. Dhuhr (Noonday Prayer): Dhuhr commences shortly after Zawal—the exact moment the sun crosses the local celestial meridian (its absolute highest point in the sky) and begins its downward descent. The time concludes when the length of any object's shadow becomes equal to the height of the object itself, plus the length of the shadow that was cast at exact noon. Asr (Afternoon Prayer): Asr begins the moment Dhuhr ends. According to the majority of Islamic scholars (Jumhur), this is triggered when an object's shadow equals its own length (excluding the noon shadow). The time extends until the sun completely sets.
