Hindustani classical music has seven basic notes called swaras. These are Shadaj, Rishabha, Gandhara, Madhyama, Panchama, Dhaivata and Nishada. We commonly come across them in their shortened forms as Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni. Sa is the root/base note and the reference point based on which an octave is defined. Together, they are known as the sargam. Practice each exercise one by one: ---------------------------------- Do each step 5-7 times. Before starting singing listen to the track 3-4 times. Remember this exercise must be done very calmly & patiently. Observe your voice movements, it should be calm and steady during practice. You should increase practice hours gradually.
