Store description excerpt

What is RIEGO FrutoSecos? RIEGO FrutoSecos is a free, public app developed by the Andalusian Institute for Research and Training in Agriculture, Fisheries, Food, and Organic Production (IFAPA). It provides a convenient and intuitive interface for generating specific irrigation recommendations for nut plantations in Andalusia. The app considers three irrigation strategies. The first, called optimal irrigation, is aimed at achieving maximum production by optimizing water consumption so that the crop does NOT suffer water stress. The second, called controlled deficit irrigation (CDI), is aimed at maximizing production when the available irrigation supply does not cover optimal needs, and therefore, the crop WILL suffer stress and its production will not be at its maximum. Finally, if the available irrigation supply is very limited, there is a strategy, called survival, in which the survival of the plantation is prioritized over obtaining a harvest. How do I access RIEGO FrutoSecos? Access is achieved by entering an email address and a password chosen by the user. This way, users can retrieve their plot data stored in RIEGO FrutoSecos if they have problems with their smartphone (due to breakage, loss, or theft), change their device, or want to access it from another device. Users can request the deletion of their data and their registration in the App by contacting us at https://www.juntadeandalucia.es/agriculturaypesca/ifapa/web/contacto What are the main features/utilities of RIEGO FrutoSecos? - RIEGO FrutoSecos creates irrigation schedules adapted to the physical (density, tree size, and soil type), phenological, meteorological (precipitation and evapotranspiration), and irrigation water availability conditions specific to each almond, pistachio, or walnut plantation in Andalusia. - Irrigation recommendations are based on methodologies fully validated by research developed in commercial and experimental plantations over the last 20 years in Andalusia. - Irrigation scheduling is based on a water balance that begins on January 1st, although the tool can be used at any time during the season. - The meteorological information used by RIEGO FrutoSecos comes from the meteorological stations of the Andalusian Agroclimatic Information Network (RIA) closest to the plantation, which are automatically selected by the application. - The application creates a specific irrigation schedule for the planted plantation and, thus, for the RDC strategy, concentrates the available irrigation input at critical stages of the crop (flowering and fruit set, and post-harvest), monitoring the crop's stress level daily. - If rainfall is very limited and irrigation water availability is reduced, the app warns of a risk to the plantation due to water stress and develops an alternative or survival irrigation schedule, prioritizing the survival of the plantation over obtaining a harvest. - The app provides irrigation schedules and the evolution of soil water content for each pla
