This app has been developed in partnership with the young people of Haringey to provide an alternative way for young people who go missing from home, to communicate with professionals, if they prefer not to discuss them being missing directly with a social worker or police officer in person. I was missing/ I want to return home. This app provides information to help young people understand why some young people go missing, and the circumstances in which this might happen. When a young person has been missing and returns home, it is important that police and those working with you understand what happened to prevent it happening again, so if you have been missing you can use this app to let a trusted person know that you may need help. I need support. If you need support to keep yourself or your friends safe, or you want to talk about being stopped and searched or to engage in constructive activities, you can request contact from a youth professional, using this app, who will contact you within 72 hours to talk things through, and to agree how they can help. The app also provides up-to-date information on services, organisations, and activities available to children and young people in the local area, that they, or their parents, can contact directly. Stop and Search The police use stop and search as a legitimate police tactic to prevent crime and harm in the community. Young people tell us that being stopped and searched can be a traumatic experience. If you want to talk to somebody about this experience, you can contact somebody via this App. The log can also be shared with parents and trusted adults at the young person discretion. We have also included a cartoon that provides this information in an animated format. Stop and search – my rights. The police must follow the 'GO WISELY' guidance, that relates specifically to the requirements for conducting stop and search under section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) ‘ ‘GO WISELY’ is explained in a simple format that will enable any child or young person who experiences being stopped and searched to recognise if their stop and search was lawful. Grounds – A clear explanation of the reasons for the Officer’s search, - why they find you suspicious Object – What the Officer will be looking for Warrant – Warrant card to be produced.
