Store description excerpt

It is an application for cell phones and tablets (Android Operating System) for children from 3 to 5 years old to learn through images and sounds the basic contents about the alphabet, numbers, family, colors, parts of the human body, animals, fruits and basic expressions in the Ikitu language. This app is aimed at serving as instruments to strengthen and promote linguistic revitalization processes that arise with the new generations. The Ikitu people formerly occupied a wide territory that included the area where the city of Iquitos, the capital of Loreto, is currently located. This city would have been named for the Ikitu. Like the Arabela and Vacacocha peoples, the language of the Ikitu people belongs to the Záparo linguistic family. The Ikitu people live mainly in the province of Maynas, department of Loreto. According to the results of the 2017 national censuses, 1,352 people have identified themselves as part of the Ikitu people at the national level due to their customs and ancestors; and due to the field work carried out by the Ministry of Education, 519 people have stated that they speak the Ikitu language. In addition, the data obtained by the Ministry of Culture, the population of the communities of the Ikitu people is estimated at 693 people. Source: https://bdpi.cultura.gob.pe/pueblos/ikitu
