Store description excerpt
PureEdit is a local grammar and style checker for people who want better feedback than built-in tools in Word, Pages, or LibreOffice — without pasting drafts into a cloud AI service. YOUR WRITING STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE Default spelling and grammar checking runs on your Mac or iPad. It does not upload your document to PureEdit servers or to a cloud AI for that check. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Open Word (.docx), Pages, LibreOffice (.odt), RTF, plain text, and Markdown • Check with a large on-device rule set (thousands of grammar and style rules) • Review suggestions side by side — accept or reject each change • Export a corrected document • Free checking for the first 500 words; PureEdit Pro (one-time) unlocks the whole document OPTIONAL ON-DEVICE AI (NOT REQUIRED) A separate style pass can run on-device if you enable it: • On iPad: Apple Intelligence when available on your device • On Mac: Apple Intelligence and/or an optional downloaded on-device model It is never required for normal grammar checking, and it is not a cloud chatbot. Enabling a downloaded model may use the network once for that download. WHO IT’S FOR Students and parents who prefer not to upload essays to AI sites, privacy-minded writers, and anyone who wants a real document app with local checking. WHO IT’S NOT FOR Not an AI ghostwriter, not a system-wide checker in every text box, and not a Google Docs plugin. Requirements: iPadOS 17 or later; Mac with Apple silicon (macOS 14 or later).
