These 95 proverbs in the Tamajeq language in the dialect of Tawallammat (Niger) are classified according to the themes they address. They reveal the conception of Tuareg life, its ideas and its values and thus reflect the richness of the wisdom of the Tamajeq culture. These proverbs show how a Tamajeq person sees and understands the world and how to deal with the challenges of everyday life. They deliver teachings, instructions, warnings and rules of life. They thus constitute a guide to knowing how to live. In this app, the actual proverb is written in tamajeq, then repeated 3x in audio, then written in French. We would like people in addition to listening to the proverb, also to learn it by heart. This especially for the younger generation, who often do not realize the wisdom of their elders. The purpose of this application is to contribute to the knowledge of the Tamajeq culture, first of all by targeting the Tamajeq people themselves, then anyone who is interested in it. We hope that the Tamajeq will take a more liking to read in their language. We give neither explanation nor interpretation to these proverbs. We leave it to the recipients to appreciate these proverbs at their true value and to adapt them to their context.
