The Oceanian Regional Project of Territories for the Sustainable Management of Ecosystems (PROTEGE) is an initiative that aims to promote sustainable economic development and resilient in the face of climate change within the European Overseas Countries and Territories of the Pacific (OCTs), by relying on biodiversity and renewable natural resources. PROTEGE is a regional cooperation project which supports the public policies of the four Pacific OCTs: New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna and the Pitcairn Islands. The project is funded by the European Union to the tune of 36 million euros, to which is added an OCT co-financing of 128,000 euros under Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR). The project is implemented by the Pacific Community (SPC - Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change Program) and the Pacific Regional Environment Program (SPREP). For a period of four years (2018-2022), it is broken down into four themes: • agriculture and forestry, • coastal fishing and aquaculture, • water, • invasive species. This publication has been produced with the assistance of the European Union. The contents of this publication are the sole responsibility of the Pacific Community and can in no way be taken to reflect the views of the European Union.
