Store description excerpt
PPR — Psychological Performance Resilience Mental training born in Swedish military aviation — built for anyone who performs under pressure. THE STORY In high-performance flying, calm is not a personality trait. It is training. For decades, the Swedish Air Force and Swedish defence research treated the mind as part of the safety system. When a pilot freezes, fixates, or floods with stress, the aircraft does not forgive the moment. Human factors under pressure — tunnel vision, rushed decisions, lost situational awareness — have always been among the most dangerous risks in military aviation. That is why Swedish defence psychology, from the late 1970s onward, invested in structured mental training for fighter pilots: relaxation, focus, mental rehearsal and readiness — not as wellness, but as operational discipline. The goal was simple and serious: keep the pilot clear when the cost of panic is measured in lives. Folke P. Sandahl later documented a three-step course in mental training (Trestegskurs i psykisk träning), including PBT — psykisk beredskapsträning, “mental readiness training.” That tradition is the heritage of this app. PPR is an independent, modern English-language adaptation of that method for civilian high performers. It is not an official product of the Swedish Armed Forces and is not endorsed by any air force. The heritage is real; the responsibility to train is yours. WHY IT MATTERS OFF THE FLIGHT LINE You may never sit in a cockpit. You still face moments where pressure collapses attention: the boardroom, the pitch, the race, the night shift, the hard conversation, the recovery after failure. The same skills pilots trained — breath, composure, focus, readiness — transfer. Research on resilience, mindfulness and aviation mental training shows these capacities can be learned and practised. PPR packages that practice into a clear path you can follow every day. WHAT YOU TRAIN IN THE APP Move through the course at your own pace: • Meditate on your own — a gentle start and a calm instrumental track • Step 1 — Basic awareness: breath and body scan for presence • Step 2 — Emotional balance: observe feelings without being ruled by them • Psychological Performance Resilience — prepare for a real challenge; build confidence and awareness of its physical and mental demands (the heart of the old PBT idea) • Step 3 — Advanced awareness and focus for everyday life • One Meditation — a single word as your anchor to stillness Some sessions include intentional silence: short guidance, then time to practise, then a brief close. The silence is the practice — not a broken file. In the air, empty seconds of noise are not the point; a steady mind is. On the ground, it is the same. FEATURES • Guided sessions built in — play, pause, seek, skip ±10 seconds • Repeat a track when you need to stay with one skill • Favourites for quick return • Timer for self-guided sittings • Practical tips for building the habit • Your own record — total meditation
