Store description excerpt
Your heart rate goes up when you stand. You know it. Getting a doctor to see it is the hard part. Ballast is a POTS and dysautonomia tracker built around the one measurement that matters: how far your heart rate climbs when you get upright — and the report that proves it. — THE LEAN TEST, GUIDED — The NASA Lean Test, sometimes called the poor man's tilt table, done properly. Ten minutes lying flat with three resting readings, then ten minutes leaning against a wall with a reading every minute, from standing minute 0 through 10. • Ballast keeps the clock and prompts you for each reading • On Apple Watch it streams your heart rate live and taps your wrist each minute — you just lean • It reads the SUSTAINED rise, the mean of your last three standing minutes, not a one-off spike that a sensor glitch can fake • It checks blood pressure separately inside the three-minute window, so a drop isn't mistaken for a rise • It flags narrow pulse pressure, delayed blood-pressure falls, and spiky-but-not-sustained results • Adult and adolescent thresholds (30 bpm and 40 bpm) — LOG WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS — • 70+ symptoms in the words people really use: brain fog, coat hanger pain, adrenaline dump, blood pooling, air hunger, crash after activity • One-tap "Rough day" for when you have nothing left to give a form • Episodes: near-faints, tachy attacks, adrenaline surges — with what set it off and what helped • Fluids and sodium, with proper sodium maths (a 1 g salt tablet is 393 mg of sodium, and Ballast counts sodium, like food labels do) • Backdate anything. The day you were too ill to log is the day worth logging. — SEE YOUR OWN PATTERN — • Symptom severity over time, most-logged symptoms, the triggers that keep recurring • Whether hitting your fluid goal actually lines up with easier days — with the sample size shown • Repeat lean tests plotted against the 30 bpm criterion, so you can see if treatment is working — THE REPORT YOUR DOCTOR WILL READ — A clean PDF laid out the way a cardiologist reads: the minute-by-minute lean test table, resting and sustained standing rates, blood-pressure behaviour, symptom burden, triggers, episodes, intake and medications. Plus raw CSV. Both exports are yours, in a form a clinician can actually use. — ON YOUR WRIST — Run the whole lean test hands-free. Quick-log a symptom, water or a salt tablet. Take an instant standing check. Everything syncs to your iPhone. — PRIVATE BY DEFAULT — No account. No cloud. No analytics. Everything stays on your device unless you export it. Face ID lock if you want it. Dark and light mode, full VoiceOver and Dynamic Type support, large tap targets, and no streak-shaming notifications — built for people with tremor, presyncope and brain fog. — BALLAST PRO — Included for everyone: all logging, backdating, the full lean test, and both the PDF and CSV export. Pro adds: the Apple Watch lean test, unlimited lean-test history, 30-day/90-day/yearly trends, medication tracking, hydration reminder
