Store description excerpt
In psychology - and specifically in transactional analysis (TA), developed by Eric Berne - a stroke is a unit of interpersonal recognition: a verbal or non-verbal signal that conveys you have noticed and acknowledged another person. In 1971 Claude Steiner took the idea further with the stroke economy, examining how we give, accept, ask for or withhold strokes. A positive stroke is the positive form of this: a kind word, a gesture, a compliment or any other piece of positive feedback. In everyday life it is easy to take for granted, or simply forget, the attention, the kind gestures, the compliments and the recognition we receive during the day. One simple, tangible way of holding on to positive strokes is to write each kind word, gesture, compliment or acknowledgement on a slip of paper and collect them in a jar. Later you can come back to them and relive the positive feedback you were given. The PositiveStroke app puts that practice into a digital form: in the PS Jar you can keep your own positive strokes, anywhere and any time. Over time it can help you take in recognition more easily, and remember how much you have in you. The app also supports self-awareness with short morning and evening reflection questions, habit tracking and mood tracking, so you can pay more deliberate attention to yourself day to day. PositiveStroke is not a replacement for therapy. It is a simple self-reflection tool for everyday use. Let PS be the place where you put away all the good you would rather not forget. It does not take long: just a few minutes in the morning and in the evening, to look after yourself a little. My PS Collection Did someone say something kind to you, or offer a gesture, a compliment, a word of recognition? Put it in the PS Jar. Your collection fills up over time with the moments that remind you how much positive feedback you have been given - and how much value other people see in you. And when you need a little reassurance, open the jar and bring one of them back. PS Morning Start your day with intention. The short questions in PS Morning help you stop for a moment and decide what you want to pay attention to today. Set your focus, think through what matters to you today and what possibilities lie ahead of you - before the day carries you away. Good habits Build good habits. Change often begins with small steps. Choose the habits that matter to you, follow your own progress, and give yourself the time to grow at your own pace. PS Evening Close your day with intention. PS Evening helps you look back on what was good about it. What was the finest moment of your day? What are you proud of? Instead of simply moving on to the next day, make room for what is worth taking with you. PS Mood Notice how you feel. The PS Mood tracker makes it easy to record your mood each day, and to look back later at how it has changed. PositiveStroke is for you if you want to... - pay closer attention to the positive feedback you receive - accept praise a
