Store description excerpt

Plotline tells you whether a series is worth your time, and shows its working. Most apps hand you a rating. Plotline analyses every episode of a series and tells you what the numbers actually say — then prints the numbers underneath, so you can disagree with it. WHAT PLOTLINE WORKS OUT • Plotline Score — our own 0-100 rating, broken into the three things it measures: how highly the episodes rate, how evenly the show holds that level, and whether it climbs or slides. • Where it falls off — the season after which quality drops and never recovers, with the averages before and after. • How steady it is — from remarkably even to a genuine rollercoaster, measured between its highest and lowest rated episodes. • Whether it hooks you early — or starts slow and gets good later, with the season it turns around. • Whether it lands the ending — ends on a high, holds its level, or fades out. • Episode-by-episode charts across every season. The ratings themselves come from TMDB. Every verdict above is worked out here, from those ratings up — it is not a field you can look up somewhere else — and each one is printed beside the figures that produced it. SHELVES YOU WON'T FIND ELSEWHERE Shows That Never Slip. Knows When It Peaked. Worth the Wait. They Stick the Landing. Brilliant and Baffling. These aren't genres — they're groups we derived by analysing every episode of the series we ship, each with the measurement behind it spelled out. FILMS, ON THEIR OWN TERMS A film has no seasons to chart, so Plotline shows what it does have: budget, revenue, profit and return on investment, alongside franchise timelines and the filmographies of its cast and director. WORKS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING The analysis ships inside the app, already computed. No account, no sign-up, no subscription, nothing to restore. Open it on a plane and the scores and the verdicts are already there. Online, the analysis is recomputed as fresher episodes arrive. ALSO INSIDE • Where to watch, by streaming service, with a region selector • Compare any two titles side by side, films and series alike • Career profiles for any actor or director • Trend explorers: decade battles and franchise tracking • Favorites and a watchlist, synced across your devices • Search across both films and series • Full support for iPhone and iPad, light and dark WHEN IT WON'T GUESS If a series has too few rated episodes to support a conclusion, Plotline says so and tells you which reason applies, instead of inventing a verdict. We would rather say nothing than say something we cannot back up. That rule runs through the whole app. A decline point proves that quality fell and did not recover — it says nothing about how good the show was before it fell, and the wording never pretends otherwise. PRIVACY No account, no sign-up, no advertising identifier. Plotline collects no data about you and does not track you across apps or websites. Favorites and watchlist sync through your own iCloud account. Metadat
