Streaming gave you almost everything ever recorded. It also made the album sleeve disappear. PlayScreen brings it back into the room. Turn any iPad running iPadOS 15.6 or later into a beautiful now-playing display for your WiiM. Album artwork fills the screen, surrounded by a soft wash of colour drawn from the cover itself. Track, album and artist stay clear and understated, with bit depth and sample rate shown exactly as your streamer reports them. When the music stops, PlayScreen becomes a simple clock until you listen again. Choose how it looks. A record can slide out from behind the sleeve and turn as the music plays, or you can have the cover on its own, or the record alone with the artwork as its label. Or put the words on screen: PlayScreen finds synced lyrics for what you are listening to and follows them line by line, the line being sung brightest with the ones either side of it faded. Select yours and you are done. Prefer to connect manually? You can enter an address directly from the setup screen. Private by design. No account. No cloud. No adverts. No analytics. PlayScreen communicates directly with your WiiM across your own network, and the only permission it needs is local network access so it can find and talk to your streamer. Lyrics are the one thing that leaves your network, and only while you have chosen to show them. PlayScreen asks LRCLIB, a free community lyrics database, for the artist, track, album and length of whatever is playing. Nothing else is sent, there is no account, and choosing any other display style stops it. PlayScreen works with WiiM streamers that expose the standard local API and has been built and tested with the WiiM Pro Plus. Whether you are listening through TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, AirPlay, a NAS or internet radio, PlayScreen uses the artwork and playback information made available by your WiiM and presents it beautifully.
