PlayPiano listens while you play real sheet music and coaches you like a teacher at your side: every note is graded as it happens, and at the end you get a score for notes, timing, note length, dynamics, chords, evenness and pedal, plus the exact bars to practice next. Works with any USB or Bluetooth MIDI piano keyboard, and with the on-screen keys when you have no keyboard at hand. Completely free. No subscription, no ads, no account. A COACH, NOT A VIDEO Open a built-in piece or import your own MusicXML and MIDI files. The score is engraved like a printed edition and scrolls as you play. Each note lights up right, early, late or missed. When you stop, the review paints the whole score in color so you can see at a glance where the timing slipped, where a chord rolled, where a phrase went flat. Tap any note for the detail: how late, how long you held it, how loud. Three practice chips take you straight to the weakest bars. A SCORE YOU CAN TRUST The grader measures what a piano teacher listens for: the right notes, onset timing against the beat, how long you hold each note, dynamics from the written marks, how together your chords land, a steady pulse, and pedal changes. Every component is shown as its own bar, and the overall score is only awarded under the same conditions each time, so a 94 today means the same as a 94 next month. Share a review image with your teacher or a friend. PRACTICE TOOLS THAT DO THE WORK Wait mode holds the music until you find the right key. Loop any passage by dragging across the bars. Take it up raises the tempo after every clean pass. Switch a hand off and the app plays it while it scores the other. Calibrate your keyboard once and timing is judged to the millisecond. A METRONOME BUILT FOR THE MUSIC STAND A tempo you can read from the bench, a ruler you drag, beat lamps that show the beat as it sounds. Time signatures from 2/4 to 12/8, subdivisions and swing, a tempo trainer, silent bars to test your own pulse, presets, and control from the lock screen. Inside a piece, the click follows the score's own meter. A GUIDED PATH FOR BEGINNERS Fifty-one short units across seven chapters: posture, finding notes, five-finger position, chords, scales, reading, key signatures and your first real pieces.
