Store description excerpt
The ingredient list is where the answers are — in six-point type, in industry vocabulary, with the thing you avoid hiding behind one of its eleven other names. PlateGuard reads the label with your camera and checks every single ingredient against the rules you choose. Red means something matched, and the app names the rule and the exact ingredient. Amber means something couldn't be identified — and unknown is never treated as fine. Green appears only when every ingredient on the label was recognized and none of them matched. BUILT FOR PREFERENCES AND INTOLERANCES Choose from thirteen rule sets: the nine U.S. major allergen groups (milk, egg, wheat and gluten, soy, peanut, tree nuts, sesame, fish, shellfish) plus high-FODMAP ingredients, histamine-relevant foods, industrial seed oils, and added sugars under all their label names. SHOWS ITS WORK • Every flagged ingredient names the rule that fired and what it matched • Sub-ingredients in parentheses are checked individually • CONTAINS and MAY CONTAIN statements are read and checked too • A 600+ entry ingredient and E-number database, entirely on your phone • Unknown ingredients are listed for you to check — never silently passed ON-DEVICE, PRIVATE The camera image and label text are processed on your iPhone. PlateGuard has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no servers of ours to send anything to. Saved scans and profiles sync through your private iCloud database only. PLATEGUARD PRO Free includes the full verdict engine, one diet profile, and five scans a day. Pro adds unlimited scans, saved scan history with iCloud sync, multiple diet profiles, custom avoid terms, and a searchable E-number explainer. The verdict engine is identical on both tiers. IMPORTANT PlateGuard is for dietary preferences and intolerances only. It is not a medical device and must not be relied on for life-threatening or anaphylactic allergies. Camera text recognition can misread packaging and recipes change without notice — always read the label yourself.
