Store description excerpt

You can know the words and still freeze with your thumb on the button. The only fix is having said them before. PilotSpeak puts you on frequency and makes you talk. You say the call out loud, the controller answers, and you find out immediately whether what came out of your mouth was right. WHAT IT IS 44 radio calls, laid out in the order a flight actually happens: • On the Ground — clearances, taxi routes, hold-short instructions • Getting Airborne — from the hold line to your first enroute frequency • Enroute — advisories, handoffs, everything that changes mid-flight • Coming Back In — sequencing, the pattern, the landing clearance • Nobody in the Tower — self-announced calls with no controller listening • In the Clouds — clearances, holds, approaches and the miss • When It Goes Wrong — the calls you hope to never make Each call shows how many items you have to read back correctly, so you can see what you are walking into before you key up. BUILT AROUND YOUR AIRCRAFT Tell it your callsign and your home field once. From then on the scenarios use your callsign, your field's real runways, taxiways and published frequencies — not a generic trainer at a generic airport. The app also builds a speech model around those two answers, so the recogniser expects runway numbers, squawk codes and your tail number instead of everyday English. THE CONTROLLER ANSWERS Get it right and you move on. Miss something and you are told exactly what you left out, then given the phrasing to copy. There is an optional short-tempered controller for anyone who would rather be told off than encouraged. Can't talk out loud right now? Type the call instead and the scenario carries on as normal. WHERE THE CONTENT COMES FROM Every scenario is written from public-domain FAA publications — the Aeronautical Information Manual, the Pilot/Controller Glossary, FAA Order JO 7110.65 and AC 90-66C — and each one names the paragraph it came from, right on the setup screen. WHAT IT IS NOT This is a practice tool for radio phraseology and confidence. It is not flight instruction, it does not replace a certificated flight instructor, and it is not connected to real air traffic control.
